An Insight Into Types Of Wire Meshes Manufactured By Wire Mesh Suppliers And Manufacturers

We have all seen wire mesh at some point, whether as a cage, fence or factory conveyor belt. The applications of wire mesh are many, and so are their types. Most of us have seen aluminum and steel wire meshes, but they also come in other materials and coatings.

Here are some of the most popular wire mesh variants made by wire mesh manufacturers and wire mesh suppliers:

1. Stainless Steel Wire Mesh
Stainless steel wire meshes are typically made in different hole sizes based on their applications. Tiny hole wire meshes are used for filtration screens in water treatment plants, window screens and farm screens, whereas large holed ones are used for making conveyor belts, screen coatings, machine equipment, food industries and manufacturing industries. These wire meshes can be woven or welded, with both the types offering different properties and different prices.

2. Galvanized Steel Wire Mesh
While stainless steel is mainly rust resistant, it is not as hard so as to make into stand alone containers. For this purpose, galvanized steel wire meshes are used. They offer better strength resistance than stainless steel wire meshes, but are slightly more expensive. They also come in woven and welded variants. Welded variants are cheaper and for short term use because the welded areas are not galvanized, making them prone to rusting, whereas woven ones have no such weakness, making them perfect for long term use such as fencing, making steel cages, wire mesh steel containers, shopping carts and many more.

3. Iron Wire Mesh
Iron is very hard and difficult to break, so they are used to make heavy duty products such as high security fencing in prisons and other properties. They mostly use welded wire meshes for better strength and protection. They cannot be bent or cut easily with ordinary tools, hence are the preferred choice of materials for high security fencing. Iron wire meshes are often coated for rust and corrosion resistance, although many businesses prefer to buy it uncoated in bulk. They are also slightly cheaper than stainless steel meshes, but don’t have the visual appeal of those.

4.  PVC Coated Wire Mesh
PVC coated wire mesh are originally made of steel or aluminum wire mesh, then coated with PVC to make it look attractive. These PVC coatings also make them rust and corrosion proof, although it cannot be guaranteed and depends on the type of coat done. They are usually used for decorative purposes and small-scale scenarios such as window screens, machine guards, automobile guards and many more.

5. Aluminum Wire Mesh
Aluminum is a highly versatile that can be a good replacement for steel wire meshes depending on the condition. Aluminum is a cheaper and lighter, but it also lacks the strength of steel. This makes aluminum good for low strength applications such as farm fencing, garden fencing, cages, and other such applications. Aluminum typically won’t be able to weather harsh storms, summers and winters, so they are best used for indoor applications or temporary outdoor applications.
